Oren Ambarchi, Stefano Pilia, and Massimo Pupillo release collaborative album

Self-Respecting kids of the 90s will recall the phenomenon of Captain Planet, a greeny-blue-colored dude with a mullet who miraculously emerged when five discreet powers were combined in times of ecological crisis. The show was awesome, and sadly its message hasn’t done much to curb global warming, but it provides me with excellent context in which to explain to you a fantastic new Captain Planet-esque record out on Karl Records.

You see, the powers that have combined here are Oren Ambarchi (collaborator with everyone from Jim O’Rourke to Sunn O))) to Keijo Heino), Stefano Pilia (collaborator with Mike Watt, David Grubbs, etc.), and Massimo Pupillo (from Zu). These three powerhouses of experimental music have combined to create Aithein, the Captain Planet of this analogy and an album recorded live in Bologna, Italy in April 2015. It’s available now on vinyl and as a download.

Aithein might not have a kick-ass mullet or an overt environmental message, but you can check it out here.
