Ossia joins the Blackest Ever Black family with new release

Young Echo member Ossia, a mainstay of the Bristol underground scene, is releasing Red X, a dub/techno/noise hybrid out on Blackest Ever Black. When not chanting “corruption” over a slightly ominous, slightly awesome 10-minute-long dance track, Ossia runs the RWD>>FWD mail order and is the guardian of labels Peng Sound, No Corner, and Hotline Recordings. He has previously recorded as DJ Oa$is, but the Ossia release is his first full-on solo release.

Red X’s title track was recorded in the winter of 2014-2015, with inspiration taken from Peter Tosh’s taped diaries, wherein he discusses his dissatisfaction with city living, Babylon, and people in his life. The song was made using sliced source material, a Roland synth, and resampled guitar. As Fergie says in the Black Eyed Peas’ living aural nightmare “My Humps,” “ch-check it out!!!!”

Red X will be available on 12-inch vinyl in a limited edition of 500, complete with screen-printed sleeve by Studio Tape-Echo.

Tracklisting:
A1. Red X (9:20)
B1. Ice & Blood (3:33)
