Just imagine the warm buzz of cheap beer washing over you as you try and remember if you put sunscreen on before you left the house, Matthew Houck’s caterwaul in the background lilting through an 18-minute version of some obscure Willie Nelson song. You stop and think, “This is a good day, thanks Phosphorescent. You made leaving the house worth it.”
So don’t be a hermit and miss out on having that EXACT experience! Phosphorescent’s recent album for Dead Oceans, Muchacho, is mighty swell on your home stereo system, but you just can’t replicate the experience of seeing them live if you’re inside, trapped among the stacks of newspapers that you swear you’re going to throw away soon. Peel the trash bags off the windows, let the light in, take a shower, and go see them live at some point this summer. You’ll be glad you did.
