Primavera Sound launches its 2016 lineup, dares other festivals to join the arms race

Earlier today, we reported that Radiohead had announced a couple of festival dates, their first shows since 2012. One of those select stops was at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound. Well, the festival has just shared its full lineup via a rocket-themed video you can watch bellow. With a bravado already typical of them, Primavera’s lineup features TMT favorites Freddie Gibbs, Julia Holter, Holly Herndon, Jenny Hval, Alex G, and U.S. Girls, in addition to headliners Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Sigur Rós, PJ Harvey, Brian Wilson, Beach House, Animal Collective, Vince Staples, and an absolutely absurd etcetera.

It goes to show how breathtaking Primavera’s lineup actually is, that Radiohead’s return to the stages (and a very sought-after catch by the festival since its inception) is not the biggest deal in this story. Neither is the first European show by the reunited LCD Soundsystem. Nor a rare live appearance by horror maestro John Carpenter. Hell, if I have it my way, I’m planning to check out Boredoms, Psychic TV, Mueran Humanos, Cabaret Voltaire, Titus Andronicus, A.R. Kane, Selda, Pxxr Gvng, Islam Chipsy, and Ho99o9. And that’s not even looking at crowd-pleasing acts like the Instragram of rock bands or Kamasi Washington.

Primavera Sound’s sixteenth edition takes place in Barcelona from June 2-4. Check the complete lineup below.
