Attention all gentrified landowners, cake-eating serfs, and pudding cup-eating music kids! Have you ever sat around and thought about how great it’d be to invest money in something that’s less lo-fi than the Stock Market is? Well, dear friends, you’re in luck, because lo-fi pop’s proverbial Godfather (and possibly Wavves’ Nathan Williams’ real Godfather too, given the man’s advanced age for the rock biz) R. Stevie Moore currently needs YOUR financial resources to help pay the up-front costs of an impending world tour. And, to make matters even more storybook-philanthropic: he needs it SOON.
You may recall that, back in January, we told you all about the home-recording savant’s campaign to fund his latest album with fan donations via the Kickstarter program. Happily, that fund-raising goal was a complete success, and Moore is now rehearsing with a new backing band called Tropical Ooze while also trying to negotiate the perilous ins-and-outs of a massive tour so that he can bring his willfully DIY music to the masses. The whole shebang will also be filmed for an upcoming documentary on his life and work.
Once again, Moore has created a Kickstarter campaign to help defray the damn-near prohibitive costs that are apparently involved in cementing one’s musical and cultural legacy (I’ll have to keep that in mind for later). HOWEVER, the deadline to submit is May 7, which is less than one month away. “Simply put, we need your donations to help with our transportation,” Moore says on his Kickstarter. “We’ll be eating bologna sandwiches and sleeping on spare couches most nights… which is fine! But without gas, a van, and a few plane tickets, there is no tour.” And with several cities already confirmed and a film crew raring to go, the time to help this man out of a jam is now.
