Rilo Kiley break up; The Wizard shoots up Netflix queues

Rather popular pop-rock outfit Rilo Kiley have broken up. This is not entirely surprising, considering that they haven’t put out a record since 2007 and frontwoman Jenny Lewis (you know, that girl from Troop Beverly Hills) is arguably more successful than her now-former group. But, evidently, the band didn’t just fade peacefully into non-existence. Guitarist Blake Sennett (you know, Pinsky from Salute Your Shorts) told Spinner the following: “I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don’t really want to submit myself to. I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, ‘I’m not going to put myself in that position again,’ so I said, ‘Fuck that, I can’t do this anymore.’”

Deception! Disloyalty! Greed! Cursing! Any dreams you had of Rilo Kiley returning and, arm-in-arm with Cursive and Bright Eyes, ushering in a new Omaha golden age (even though Rilo Kiley were from LA, but you always kind of lumped them in with all those Saddle Creek bands anyway) have been dashed by anger and in-fighting. That said, Sennett did state that he hopes the band has one last release in the future, namely a 40-track compilation of unreleased tracks. Currently, there are no concrete details on the possibility of such a release. For now, let’s have a moment to reflect on all the child actor quips and puns that could have been.
