Ringo Starr announces new album Postcards from Paradise, causing millions to momentarily reconnect with their annoyance that The Beatles aren't on Spotify

Killer-diller news everyone. Little mom-and-pop record store/independent label/neighborhood malt shop Universal Music Enterprises just put a big ol’ sign out front announcing the release of former Plastic Ono Band drummer, “Back Off, Boogaloo” popularizer, and secret-longtime Traveling Wilburys producer Richard “Ringo Starr” Starkey’s “18th studio release” entitled Postcards from Paradise… which is great because A) I could kinda go for a frosty chocolate malt before my woodshop class starts, and B) I was just wondering what the current state of that man’s haircut is!

Good thing I won’t have to wait much longer, because it’s coming out on March 31. And darned if this thing doesn’t seem to have it ALL, guys (at least according to that pretty impressive sandwich board sign):

• “11 original tracks”!

• “A song written and recorded by Ringo Starr and his current All Starr Band - Steve Lukather, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie, Richard Page, Wally Palmer and Gregg Bissonette”!!

• Production and recording by Ringo himself “at his home studio”!

• “Los Angeles”!

All in all, pretty dang immense, I’d say. But the sign doesn’t even stop there! It goes on to specifically assure us that the album “as always, features friends and family”! As Ringo himself is often heard to remark, “If I am recording and you’re in town and drop by, you’re going to be on the record!” (Er, luckily, Ringo is famous and stuff, so his random buddies include the likes of “Joe Walsh, Benmont Tench, Dave Stewart, Ann Marie Simpson, Richard Marx, Amy Keys, Peter Frampton, Nathan East, and Glen Ballard.”) The band is also on the road all winter leading up to the release of the album, and all the dates are detailed on it. There’s even a little note on there about how, on April 18, Ringo will be “inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, where he will receive the Award for Musical Excellence.” Again, what can I say? It’s quite a sign. You really should see it.
