Riot Fest announces more bands, makes you feel really old

Without a constant stream of reunion announcements, music festivals surely would have gone out of business a long time ago. Instead, festival bookers strive each year to remind you, the aging music fan, that you are old as fuck and all the bands you liked as a youngin’ are now reuniting to a new generation of kids. Take, for example, Chicago’s Riot Fest (going down October 6-10 at venues all across the city) and its recent lineup additions of Cap’n Jazz, Pennywise, The Bronx, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, Torche, and Kylesa. No doubt the organizers threw Cap’n Jazz on there — along with previously announced reunions of Snapcase, Articles of Faith, and Corrosion of Conformity — just to remind you that the grim grasp of death is right around the corner. In addition to the festival’s 17 shows spread across five venues, there will also be a Busted at Oz compilation album (featuring early recordings of premiere Chicago punk bands) benefit show on October 6 at the Double Door with performances by Naked Raygun, The Effigies, and The Subverts, among others. Proceeds will benefit the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. Tickets for Riot Fest are on sale now and are available here.

Previously announced lineup: Bad Religion, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Circle Jerks, Anti-Flag, Articles of Faith, Snapcase, Less Than Jake, The Lawrence Arms, Bouncing Souls, High on Fire, Corrosion of Conformity, Riverboat Gamblers, OFF! (Keith Morris of Circle Jerks), Red Oktoberfest with Propagandhi, “Busted at Oz” Reunion, Cro-Mags, FUN., Negative Approach, Smoking Popes, Bhopal Stiffs, The Meatmen, Agnostic Front, Off With Their Heads, Brendan Kelly, The Toasters, Roy Ellis a.k.a. Mr. Symarip, Righteous Fool, and Mandy Moore many more.
