Laurie Osbourne (a.k.a. Appleblim) and Alec Storey (a.k.a. Second Storey, formerly Al Tourettes), two superheroes moonlighting as DJs, have joined forces for a new live-focused act called ALSO. All caps baby, because you know this is gonna be powerful. Also because it links the two producers’ initials together, and spells an un-Googleable word! Couldn’t they have just been boring and gone with Apple Story?
In any case, the legendary Belgian outpost R&S have already signed off on the duo, and will be releasing ALSO’s EP01 next month. Well, hopefully the music is bursting with color and life, if not for the naming. As Osbourne explains it, “There’s so many people making sonically ‘correct’ or refined 4x4 music, we just wanted to explore everything other than that, whilst still keeping the dance floor moving.” I couldn’t agree more. Created primarily from freewheeling, in-studio jams, these refined gentlemen hope to shake up predictable rhythmic frameworks with some experimental and emotive sounds. EP01 drops November 24; maybe by then you’ll have figured out a search phrase that will find their music. Please let me know if you do!
