SHAPE, a platform for emerging underground artists, launches at CTM Festival with Lorenzo Senni, Ketev, and more

Tiny Mix Tapes — alongside The Wire, Resident Advisor, and Resonance FM — is proud to be a media partner for a new artist platform called SHAPE. The three-year project, co-funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme, culls together 16 European non-profit festivals within the ICAS network like Unsound (Krakow, PL), CTM (Berlin, DE), Insomnia (Tromso, NO), and Skanu Mežs Festival (Riga, LV) to provide a platform for new, emerging underground artists. You know, what TMT is largely about!

Each year of its three-year initiative, the 16 fests will choose 48 musicians — many of whom come from smaller European countries — to participate in a wide variety of activities, from live performances and residencies to workshops and lectures. Artists for 2015 include TMT favorites like DJ Nigga Fox, Lorenzo Senni, Emptyset, and Hildur Guðnadóttir, but there’s a whole host of artists we haven’t heard of and are excited to explore and share.

The whole shebang will be formally announced tomorrow at a Meet & Greet at CTM Festival. In addition to CTM’s already stunning lineup of 18+, SOPHIE, Powell, Mumdance, Yung Lean, Amnesia Scanner, E.E.K., Lucrecia Dalt, Danny L. Harle, and many, many more, the following eight emerging musicians will be brought to CTM due to SHAPE:

• Lorenzo Senni (Editions Mego, Boomkat)
• Ketev (Opal Tapes, Where to Now)
• Gábor Lázár (Presto!?, Boomkat)
• RSS B0ys (Monotype)
• Zamilska (Mik. Musik.!.)
• Marco Donnarumma
• Matthijs Munnik
• Extreme Precautions
