Smith Westerns' Cullen Omori signs to Sub Pop

As soon as buzz band Smith Westerns announced a hiatus, fans assumed lead singer Cullen Omori would simply spend the rest of his time on Earth posting Instagram pictures of himself shirtless. Once again, the fans of the singer of a popular band confused me with their idol (I’m always shirtless on Instagram). But the good news is that Cullen signed to Sub Pop Record, and he’ll be moistening the ears of his fanbase with a debut full-length due in spring of 2016. I think conga rats are in order?

Of course, I kid. Cullen is a hardworking 25-year-old boy who will prove to be more than a swoon machine when he performs in his hometown of Chicago at Schubas on October 30. In anticipation of this live debut, Chicago Reader recently interviewed Cullen, giving fans a more professional insight than what you have been given here.
