The Strokes announce tracklist for Angles and RELEASE IT FREE ONLINE TODAY! Oh, wait. No, just the first thing.

Okay, for those of you who aren’t up to speed on The Strokes, let me give you the 4-1-1 straight from Wikipedia. Looks like there’s a few citations needed on their page… well, no matter. I’m sure it’s all legit. Okay, let’s see: The Strokes are this guitar-based band from New York City. They haven’t put out a record in a few years because they are all fashion models, and, let’s face it, there are a lot of fashions that need modeling. So yeah, they’ve been busy doing that. And flying airplanes recreationally; they’ve been doing that too.

Anyway, so after doing a few one-off shows last year to feel things out, they recently got back together with longtime producer Bob Rock for their first album in five years. A little-known fact is that they waited that long because they are all huge fans of the song “5 Years” from Ziggy Stardust. The album is called Angles and is rumored to be a Wassily Kandinsky concept album (here’s one of his more famous paintings). The album is being released March 22 via RCA (and March 21 via Rough Trade in some foreign country called “Uk”).

Meanwhile, “Under Cover of Darkness,” the first single from Angles, will hit the radio in February and marks the first time a radio single has been mixed in 5.1 surround sound. The complete tracklisting for the album can be found below. Stay tuned for more details about its release, as well as news of a spring tour of each and every one of New York’s seven boroughs.
