GREAT NEWS, EVERYONE. That 90s band who sang that song “The Freshmen” (remember, that was the song that was playing while you made out with that cheerleader who was a whole year older than you [!] in her mom’s aqua-blue Chevy station wagon on that one magical Fourth of July weekend??) is BACK and MORE RELEVANT THAN EVER. Go ahead, finish your spit-take. I’ll wait…
Now, then; the Grand Rapids, MI six-piece is putting out a new independent album, entitled Overboard, on June 17. Like all the best albums ever, it features “contributions from each member” and is “the result of a true collaboration within the band.” I know, I know; you’re already totally sold at this point and I don’t even need to go on, but bear with me here. There’s some more stuff to tell you.
The album’s first single, “Crash Landing,” is up on the band’s GeoCities page, and it “hits with soulful lyrics and seductive vocals set to music and a chorus whose pop/rock brilliance is reminiscent of their formative years.” Also! The haunting title track was co-written with Jeff Daniels and “is a compelling and dark tale of love and loss delivered with an alluring chorus that is truly unforgettable.” Truly!
Right. So, “stop talking, Nobodaddy! Where can I GET THE ALBUM, already?!?!” Okay, fair enough. Just calm down. Here and here.
