It’s pretty simple, really: L.A.-based psych-fuzz impresario John Dwyer and his merry band of scuzzy rock zombies in The Oh Sees like to do outrageous things. But they also know that the whole trick do doing “outrageous” things is to NEVER do the SAME outrageous thing twice.

Therefore, since 2016 was the year they put out 600,000 albums, Dwyer & co. probably figured that 2017 is a good year to “mix it up a little” and play 600,000 live shows instead.

And I mean it: this goddamn Ironman Triathlon of upcoming shows literally starts TOMORROW NIGHT (April 29) in beautiful Norman, Oklahoma…rockets all the way through Europe for like two months…circles back to the US later in the summer…then BACK to Europe again…then BACK to America a THIRD TIME (only with a little bit of Canada also thrown-in for shits & giggles)…and doesn’t officially wrap-up until Dwyer’s formerly-hometown San Francisco Giants extract their REVENGE on those smug Chicago Cubs in the freakin’ MLB post-season. So…probably safe to say that there won’t be a lot of time left over for pulling their “usual” stunt of putting out 100 new albums again before the end of the year.

Actually, who the hell am I kidding? They’ll probably accidentally sneeze-out a double-album or two during their “downtime” on airplane rides…not to mention the half-dozen live EPs they’ll probably spontaneously record at all the Waffle Houses they visit. So, never mind; better just budget your time and your money accordingly this year.
