Whenever TMT is feeling friendless and in need of some words of encouragement, we look to our favorite novelist Patricia Highsmith (The Talented Mr. Ripley) who said, “My imagination functions much better when I don’t have to speak to people.” Marissa Peternoster must be taking cues from the mystery queen, because the lead Screaming Female is stepping out solo style and releasing her imaginative debut album… today!!
Actually, Paternoster’s Noun project predates her work with the Females but much of it will finally see the light of day today, July 7. Playing on Noun’s Holy Hell record are SF drummer and bassist Jarrett Dougherty and King Mike, plus Don Giovanni labelmates Angela Boylan (Cheeky) and Miranda Taylor (Black Wine, Full of Fancy, Hunchback), who provide additional drum support. Screeching and shredding are, of course, courtesy of Paternoster.
But it’s not all Golden Girls marathons and Swanson Rib Style Boneless Pork dinners for one for the talented Ms. Paternoster, because she and her band chums have announced their next musical step as well. Castle Talk will be the fourth Screaming Females album and promises to vault the power trio into the higher echelons of kickassity. The 12-track album will be released on September 14, again through trusty imprint Don Giovanni.
