U.S. Girls announces more tour dates, shares new video, triggers twin revolutions in the fields of Tour Announcement and Video Sharing

In case you’ve been forced to use your signif’s Chromebook after yours fell off your lap on the toilet after you fell asleep there that one time last fall and have therefore enjoyed minimal access to all the best tastemaking music websites in the interim, let me get you up to speed before your signif comes home:

U.S. Girls, Meg Remy’s current going (read: “unstoppable”) outsider-art-pop concern, released her 4AD debut Half Free this past fall and just received a JUNO Award nomination for it. Okay. You’re up to speed. That’s it, right?

Wrong. Sorry. See, Meg is a little too damn busy to rest those laurels long enough to let them cool down. And you’ve got a lot of hustling to do to keep up with her. First, she’s just announced a run of new tour dates, taking her everywhere from Australia to New Zealand to Japan to Korea to Europe to North America to South America to the UK (I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s all the countries that there even ARE). Full dates are below, including stops at both Primavera and the End of The Road Festival. Hope you’re not slobbering too much over all of your frequent flyer miles.

Then, on top of that, there’s the intensely spooky new video she cooked up for the Half Free track “Navy & Cream” in collaboration with artist and animator Emily Pelstring. The clip features “hand-drawn animations coupled with footage of Meg singing,” which have been (surprise, surprise:) “processed through various equipment like VJ software, a video projector, an antique video camera and an analog color-corrector, before being mixed with a feedback loop on one channel and the original source material on the other to create a beguiling montage of screen-glare, echoing trails and softened edges.” Conveniently enough, the video ALSO appears down below.

Okay, NOW that’s it. Scroll on down, and you’re good. Hope you’re not slobbering too much over your signif’s Chromebook.
