Move over, Girl Talk. Don’t you look at me, surprise-performance-by-Kanye-West. Get the fuck outta here, overpriced plastic bottles of water. On August 7, Tusco/Embassy is putting on an event whose only cookie-cutter aspect is the baked goods you’ll be wolfing down in your tent as you enjoy this incredibly ambitious noise fest. Created with help from 905 Tapes, Experimedia, and Rubber City Noise, Voice of the Valley Noise Rally asks for only $50 (or $60 at the gate) in return for five days of outdoor fun at a remote location in Millstone, West Virginia.

This year’s edition, its sixth, includes performances by over 70 artists, such as Mark McGuire, Carlos Giffoni, Laundry Room Squelchers, Headboggle, Brett Naucke, Wasteland Jazz Unit, Andy Ortmann, Leslie Keffer, Good Willsmith (featuring our very own Mukqs), and many, many more. Check the full lineup here. The event will be held on a farm, so be prepared. (Pro tip: bring a tent, food, extra TP for your bunghole, etc.)

In an effort to raise funds, Mike Haley of podcastial enterprises Tabs Out and TMT’s Laser Focus curated a digital compilation titled Beyond Rainbow Dome (the subtitle of this year’s edition), featuring material from artists performing at the fest. It’s $5, which is kind of a lot to ask for 38 tracks — roughly 13¢ each — of nearly all-exclusive material designed to benefit a unique, DIT noise fest. But hey, I guess that’s just experimental artists being experimental artists. Greedy as fuck!

In all seriousness though, this is a beautiful project by some beautiful people. Check out the comp below, and get your tickets here.
