Just last month our illustrious leader Mr P informed our dear TMT readers about the upcoming You Are Here Fest, an unconventional take on the modern day festival where audience members and performers alike are placed inside a life-sized maze and forced to battle it out to the death! Art duo Trouble (Sam Hilmer of ZS and Laura Paris) will set up this year’s maze in Brooklyn’s Secret Project Robot Gallery to up-end the traditional interaction (or lack thereof) between audience and performer starting July 12, with performances by a wide range of TMT favorites proceeding over the next four weekends.
So why retread this news a mere three weeks after its initial publication? Because on June 10 a.k.a. this Sunday, a marathon show will be hosted at LaSala (also in Brooklyn) to benefit the festival. Starting at 2 PM, this annual fundraiser will feature 16 performers, 6 DJs, and 3 VJs, all of whom contribute or help showcase the larger You Are Here artistic landscape. While most of the names on the lineup aren’t as recognizable as those you’ll have to track down in the maze next month, they do accurately reflect the microcosm of underground art being produced in a particular place at a particular time. In other words, these 12 hours really do define what it means to be there.
