♫♪  Golden Retriever - 2

Of the many concerts I’ve been to since moving to the Pacific Northwest, none rank higher on my list than the two times I’ve had my mind melted by Portland’s Matt Carlson. When he played Debacle Fest 2013, with improvised video projections, it was one of the best live music experiences I’ve seen. Golden Retriever, a duo project between Carlson and Jonathan Sielaff, originally released their sophomore effort 2 in a limited CD-R run five years back. Thanks to the keen eyes and ears of Sam and Rachel at Seattle’s Debacle Records, this summer is seeing a most excellent vinyl issue of the record, with the two brain frying pieces taking up a side apiece. While I have yet to order my copy, I only have the sounds to judge, and they’re fantastic. If you’re a modular synth head, or just a casual fan of some more “out there” tracks, Golden Retriever are sure to please. Stream below, and get zooted on these heavy slabs of improvised synth jams.
