Wasteland Cycle is about an EP’s worth of kosmische jams that bounce and glide through a sonic world of Chambers’ design. From the mini-epic opener “Ritual” to the boiling conclusion of “Voice Prothese,” you’ll find a fair amount of dank, submerged synth excursions to bury yourself under. Panabrite is back, baby! Seattle’s Norm Chambers has a way with syrupy ambient jams that makes for a fine accompaniment to your morning tea ritual (you know I’m a tea-holic at the office). With a new LP on the horizon he’s also gifted us a track off the recent Oceanic Triangulation collection from Oakland’s Inner Islands. “Digest of Botanicals” has all the components of a Panabrite burner: whirling synths (check!), ethereal minstrel interludes (check!), and trippy background nature recordings (check!). While the other contributions to the tape (from like-minded ambient heads Former Selves, Hakobune, and Oliwa) are equally relaxed and soothing to the ears, Panabrite’s work stands apart as a glorious 18-minute aural feast.
