♫♪  Aria Rostami - “Lowered Intentions”

Whenever I hear distant instrumental music like Aria Rostami, I’m always thrown into a pit of nostalgia that swirls with artists like Luke Wyatt covers Explosions in the Sky tracks with Eyeliner’s equipment. Too specific? Not enough!

By the looks of it, Aria Rostami’s newest music video for “Lowered Intentions” — off the artist’s newest Zoom Lens release entitled, Reform (OUT MARCH 14) — is all about when the weekly routine gets weird. Thus, “Lowered Intentions” reminds me of Dustin Krotts’ dad driving us in his van to open-swim on Mondays at the indoor pool during the winter of ‘96. Dustin’s dad was a pornographer, so I’m not sure what he did during those three hours Dustin and I took a dip, but “Lowered Intentions” is exactly the air I breathed then. It’s the locker room musk to the chlorine red-eye sting to the ice rink on our way to the vending machines after swimming, and Dr. Pepper and salt and vinegar chips. Old Cubs games on VHS in the back of Mr. Krotts’ van. Stretched out on the fold-out couch bed, playing 52-card war.

Reform drops on Zoom Lens this March, so keep up and find a memory through the mind-guidance of Aria Rostami. In the mean time, trip:
