After a solid 2k14 of atmospheric electronics (with releases from Charlatan and M. Geddes Gengras, amongst others), Umor Rex returns with a new album of faded sci-fi/noir jams courtesy of Berlin duo Driftmachine. “Rungler Statik” is a slow-burning yet rattling tune that offers sick sounds off the rest of Eis Heauton, their sophomore record. With songs like this, we can’t help but wait for the rest of the record before we make a final say on what it is we’re hearing; the ambience suggests that “Rungler Statik” is part of a bigger statement. But needless to say, we’re intrigued.
