“Death Magic” comes off the Asheville duo RBTS WIN’s May 20 full-length Palm Sunday. Recently remixed by pysch soothsayers Blue Sky Black Death, the single that first saw day back in 2012 turns two and gets a music video.
Members Javier Bolea on production and Cliff B. Worsham on vocal duties sew a heavy and universal battle of self-preservation vs. self-destruction with a soulful and relatively uplifting electronic sound. The video was filmed by Cheers for Fears (also on Tidal Prism) and features Javier and Cliff walking around in a location independent to the narrative of “Death Magic.” Brick alleyways, towering churches, dead foliage, town houses, all empty, all commonplaces for internal struggles, places painted with the end chant “don’t die, just try to be alive.”
Palm Sunday is out now on Tidal Prism and Palm Sunday - Remixes is out August 12.
