When you think about the influences on our current cultural obsession with the past (in this case old commercials and weird children’s television), Extreme Animals probably wouldn’t be in the top five of your list. But the mark they left with their work, plus that of seminal art collective Paper Rad (of which EA’s Jacob Ciocci was a founding member, and David Wightman was a contributor and tour mate), is seen all over, from the bizarro comedy of Adult Swim to our general obsession with internet junk culture. Now is as good a time as any for Juiceboxxx’s Thunderzone label to put out THIS MUSIC DOES NOT APOLOGIZE: 2002-2008, a near decade spanning collection bringing together “east coast noise music, pop-trance, crunk and experimental electronica.”
Grip it and rip it, readers. This one is for the true heads out there, who still believe that music is about more than social media branding and blog write-ups. Extreme Animals just wrapped up a mini tour with Juiceboxxx, but this cassette has all the energy of their live shows and videos, so cop while you can! Forget about those grey hairs you’re seeing more of in the mirror, and rage out!
