Basically, Deathbomb and Foot Village have both done their part in attempting turn us all into acid rain, which burns through our clothing and blinds all the presidential dullards who bypass warnings during solar eclipses. (Oh yeah, I went there.)

And despite an early ambivalence about any political themes in his Foot Village work, Brian Miller is definitely “going there” with his new project: America Fuck. Miller and Sam An (a.k.a. Lana Del Rabies) comprise the duo, and their first release (out now courtesy of Deathbomb, naturally) makes NO BONES about the duo’s modus operandi. American Fuck is the “product of living with toxic politics as the foreground,” and each extremely long track title on Fertility Clown is a segment of a discussion that revolves around, basically, egalitarianism as a goal.

A familiar-sounding sentiment? Perhaps. Musically, however, Fertilty Clown will offer stiff competition to your pulse; so be warned. Listen to it in full below, and head here to name your own price on a digital download — and to see the full track titles (seriously; I’m not printing them here, they’re novellas).

Fertility Clown by America Fuck

America Fuck Foot Village Lana Del Rabies Deathbomb Arc Fri, 20 Oct 2017 20:04:25 +0000 Mike Reid 159489 at https://www.tinymixtapes.com Hope you like beats, because Devonwho is about to give you 42 of them on his new tape 2017-10-20T15:07:30-04:00 https://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/devonwho-preps-42-track-beat-tape-leaving-records?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tmt Music
Hey kid, you like beats? Got a whole bunch of beats here for ya. Come November 10, Los Angeles-based producer Devonwho is going to drop a fat stack of them — 42 to be exact — for his new tape Betaloops.

Where does one amass a collection of beats this gargantuan? Seems like when you’re Devonwho, ideas for cool sounding laid-back, funky hip-hop beats just pop into your head all the time!

According to <strike>Devonhim whoself</strike> Devonwho himself, the beats that make up Betaloops were created between 2014 and 2017, a period during which the producer moved away from San Francisco and transitioned to life in Los Angeles. I’m of course talking about the proverbial FOMO, because this year’s All Hollows’ Evening brings with it a massive, super-limited new compilation from To Live and Shave in L.A.’s Tom Smith called Approach to Fear: Regeneration, and while that title may sound like the 15th direct-to-video iteration in a forgotten 90s slasher franchise, that’s not actually the scary part! Stay tuned, loyal readers, as I keep you in… suspense…

The compilation features tracks from Smith himself, Wolf Eyes, Aaron Dilloway, Andy Ortmann, Keith Fullerton Whitman, and, like, way too many others to list here. The package, which is out right now digitally through Smith’s Karl Schmidt Verlag label, is ALSO out physically October 31; and the corporeal version includes “two C90 cassettes encased in a snap-front bag with double-sided A3 poster, microzine, and more.” According to Smith, the project “was born of sheer disgust with the election of a certain spray-tanned and catastrophically incompetent shitheel.” I don’t know about you guys, but I have no idea who he could be talking about…

But now that we’ve met all the characters, gotten through all the bullshit exposition, and planted our Chekhov’s gun, let me drop the first major jump scare on you: oooooooonly 100 copiiiiiies of this bad boy will be available in the first ruuuuuuuun! That’s right, ONE-HUNDRED COPIES (I told you it’d get spooky!). So start getting in those pre-orders over at Bandcamp, where you can also read the entire list of contributors because, I’m sorry, but I’m not typing that out.

You can also celebrate Halloween early by previewing some of the tracks below. Think of each sound nugget like a little piece of bite-size candy given to you by your experimental composer/producer neighbors, and your inevitably blown out headphones as that horrible stomach ache you’d get as a kid after eating, like, 50 Reese’s cups. Daptone luminary/producer Victor “Ticklah” Axelrod brings to bear all the haunted-cave-sized bass and echo you could want, with a groove deeper than the darkest pits of the underworld. The trick is to wear your inspirations’ affectations well, without letting those swindling, backstabbing little rascals hijack your artistic relevance. Screaming Females’ frontwoman Marissa Paternoster has done a truly medal-worthy job over the years of etching (and maintaining) her very own indie rock singularity, even if the Sleater-Kinney inspiration has never been more than an arm’s length away. And despite the tremor that creeps its way down into the darkest depths of your loins whenever she sounds her banshee wail, she always skillfully manages to keep the pitchfork-wielding masses at a safe, “you can look but you can’t touch” kind of distance. And that’s badass.

So needless to say, it brought me great joy to hear the announcement of Screaming Females’ 7th full length LP, All At Once, which is due out February 23 of next year on Don Giovanni Records — the same label which picked the New Jersey trio up more than a decade ago, and with whom the band has fit ever since like chocolate-covered pretzels dunked into a mug of boxed wine.

And speaking of delicious combinations, the band has also just released a brand-spanking new video to compliment the album track “Glass House,” which you can feast your eyes on below. It basically features the trio getting schwapped upside their heads with various dinnerware by a creepy maître d’ and concludes with a goosebump-inducing outro wherein Paternoster delivers a display of vocal fortitude reminiscent of Siouxsie Sioux’s Juju glory days.

Screaming Females will also be on tour through the end of the month, prior to launching a hat-trick of late February album-release shows at Jersey City’s Monty Hall. Nobody cares.” SOPHIE’s new video, however, flies in the face of her previous comment.

Directed by and starring SOPHIE herself, the video for new song “It’s Okay to Cry” puts SOPHIE literally front and center. Like a cross between the verbose lyrical acrobatics of “Just Like We Never Said Goodbye” and the pop drama of A. G. Cook’s “Superstar,” “It’s Okay to Cry” sees SOPHIE revealing herself in several, multifaceted ways, both on lyrical and visual levels — a far cry from her pitched-voice interviews/songs, live-performance stand-ins, and formerly avatar-less social media presence.

Watch the video for “It’s Okay to Cry” below, and look for the single on October 23. But starting January 29, 2018 in Atlanta? Shit. You bet your ass that he’ll be “continuing through February with stops in Nashville, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, and concluding in Los Angeles.” Doesn’t really git more North American than that, now, does it?

(BTW, tix to all the 2018 shows are available this Friday, October 20, with “special pre-order offers” extended to “those following Rostam on Spotify” starting TODAY.)

…And by “solo,” I guess I more mean “with a bunch of other musicians and visuals” also probably on the stage. You see, “if you’ve never seen me perform, it’s always with strings — usually a string quartet —, live percussion, and video projections,” Rostam says. “I’m so psyched to see you out there on the road in January, February, and throughout 2018.”

I know. It’s sorta confusing.
