Animal Collective prep new "Applesauce" single on 10-inch viiiieeewhaaa!?! Scott Walker released details on a new album last night??

Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist, and Deakin are back at the top of the heap with a cool new 10-inch single available for preorder featuring Centipede Hz (TMT Review) album track “Applesauce” backed with a brand-new recording of live favorite “Crimson.” It comes out November 13 on Domino and that’s the single artwork above, with all kinds of yummy exotic fruit sliced—

**NO, WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT? I WENT TO SLEEP AT 8PM. NO. NO HE DIDN’T. SCOTT WALKER DOES NOT HAVE A NEW ALBUM ON 4AD AND IT IS NOT COMING OUT BEFORE THE YEAR IS OVER. DO NOT SAY THAT IF YOU DON’T MEAN IT. LOOK ME IN THE EYE. OKAY. YOU’RE NOT MESSING WITH ME. FUCK. WHY WAS I WASTING TIME ON THIS CENTIPEDE HZ LEFTOVER BULLSHIT????????**

Alright folks, change of plans. Swapping out the artwork right now. Now you should see a foreboding painting of the words Bish Bosch on a black background. This looks to be the cover art of Scott Walker’s new album on 4AD, and it too has a release date (December 3/4!) and a preorder link ($13 for the CD, $27 for the double vinyl!). The announcement comes six long years after The Drift gave us the coked-out Elvis nightmares we never knew we needed, and from the lengthy description on the album’s just-released website it’s sounding like Bish Bosch is going to be even more terrifying and grandiose.

For example, about the 20-minute centerpiece track “SDSS14+13B (Zercon, A Flagpole Sitter)”: “The title contains two brown dwarves: one, the coldest sub-stellar body in the universe discovered so far; the other, Zercon, was a real-life Moorish jester at the fifth century court of Attila the Hun.” The song follows someone attempting to reach “a height beyond calculation” before freezing to death in the solar system. Other songs make use of four-foot machetes, chisels, and an enormous kudu shofar. As The Wire’s Rob Young summarizes, “Bish Bosch is big enough to contain heaven and hell.” So yeah, there’s a new black hole of a Scott Walker album, and an Animal Collective 10-inch called “Applesauce.” FYI.
