By now, I’m sure we’ve all heard about Ariel Pink’s Coachella meltdown. And… okay? I guess that’s news, sort of? I always figured that with Ariel Pink, you’re probably going to get an onstage freak-out of one variety or another. There’s no reason for him to shape up and fly straight, even if nowadays he does have fans whose favorite Animal Collective record came out after Here Comes the Indian.
But, look, we rather like Pink here at Tiny Mix Tapes. Since this kind of sensational hubbub gets people to come out to his shows, we’re just going to have to roll up our sleeves and milk this “controversy” for all it’s worth. Come one, come all, see the amazing, meltdown-ey Ariel Pink and his fabulous Haunted Graffiti on their spring jaunt through Europe! Perhaps you, too, could bear witness to one of his famous meltdowns? Maybe he’ll scream antiquated profanity at the entire audience! Maybe he’ll lick your eyeball! If we dream hard enough, he may even stop the entire show to whip out a Talkboy and force the audience to listen to a version of Shalamar’s “Make That Move” that he recorded off a department store television! Anything is possible when you live in a world of Ariel Pink onstage meltdowns!
