Hey! Quit looking out that window and pay attention to this screen; this is IMPORTANT: Danish composer and pianist August Rosenbaum is premiering the third single from his upcoming album Vista. Titled “Calling Out,” it features the Danish vocalist Philip Owusu, of the duo Owusu/Hannibal. Rosenbaum recalls first hearing the vocalist’s work when he was 19, name-dropped by none other than the perpetually youthful Pharrell Williams.

Part delta blues hymnal, part idyllic romp with a wedding big band, “Calling Out” features the vocalist gliding over Rosenbaum’s characteristically floral arrangements. He hums for two sweet minutes before belting out some hair-raising lines about “honey bees.” This cut is free and breezy. Displaying Rosenbaum’s dexterity for establishing a mood, it’s a far cry from the grimly evocative “Nebula,” shared back in June.

Vista is going to be released by the adventurous Copenhagen label Tambourhinoceros on November 24. You can pre-order Vista here and stream “Calling Out” — with all of its accompanying stone-faced mood visuals — down below. (When you’re done, I guess you can look out of your window again.)
