Cities, am I right? (Yes.) They are teeming — with rodents, microbes, trains, and, of course high densities of human people. (Gross!) “In the city, there’s a thousand things I wanna say to you,” quoth The Jam. Well, “In the city, I have to get on the freeway to go the post office,” say I.

Young Brooklyn post-punk band SIGNAL also have ~1,000 things to say about living in the city — New York City, that is — as in: the biggest and grossest and teemingest city of all these United States. And they’re gearing up to say all 1,000 of those things at once on August 10, when their self-titled debut EP drops on Ramp Local (pre-order it here).

Song titles on said self-titled EP include “Rat Pink Eye” and “Dorks on Bikes,” and, as described in a press release, “it depicts a brutal, competitive landscape filled with rat guts, stampedes and emotional trauma.” So…it appears SIGNAL would likely agree with my “cities are gross/full of things” compound thesis as posited above. Judge for yourselves via advance track “BLL,” which you can listen to below. You might wanna leave yourself enough time for a quick shower afterwards, though.
