Bryan Ferry announces details on new album Olympia; one need only add Jesus and John Lennon to guest list to fulfill my "People I'd Have Dinner With..." wish

So maybe this is a cliched point of reference, but… you ever see Scanners? You know, the scene when the head explodes? Hope you’re not too attached to your face, because the same thing’s about to happen to you. Bryan Ferry’s back to recording after his 2007 Bob Dylan tribute, and the new album, Olympia, packs a mighty fucking hard wallop. His first on Astralwerks Records, it features a mind-blowing, teeth-shattering lineup of guest artists, including Brian Eno, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, Scissor Sisters, Groove Armada, Mani of Primal Scream and The Stone Roses, Marcus Miller, Nile Rodgers, Flea (who saw that coming?), and more former Roxy Music folks, Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay.

The album has eight original songs by Ferry and two Ferriations (Ferry variations, that is) of Tim Buckley and Traffic: “Song to the Siren” and “No Face, No Name, No Number,” respectively. Olympia isn’t out until October 26 (25 via Virgin in the U.K.), but the single “You Can Dance” will officially drop August 9 (check out an early version with DJ Hell here). Man, oh, man.
