Director of burned Sony distribution warehouse contradicts Telegraph report of systematic robbery

NME reports that the Managing Director of the Sony/PIAS DADC distribution warehouse, Peter Thompson, has come forward to contradict The Telegraph’s September 1 report stating that the fires that destroyed the building were preceded by a systematic robbing from a professional gang.

The original report claimed that the professional gang spent up to two hours dismantling a security fence before going after TVs and Playstations (items that weren’t even present in the facility), before encouraging groups of other looters into the building, leading to speculation that items from the warehouse may be headed to the black market.

In better news, Sony has set up a new distribution center in Hoddesdon in Hertfordshireand and has partnered with Proper Music Distribution to get product to independent retailers.
