The year is 2018. A tall, thin man lifts his weary gaze to the sky while his shorter and utterly filthy companion looks on, and he cries out. “Help us!” he screams to the heavens, “We’re dying down here! Help us!”

Suddenly, a bright light appears between clouds. It hurdles towards the earth, a ball of mechanic material alighting in the atmosphere. It crashes to the ground mere feet from the man and his companion: a shorter, stouter man with a long beard. The force knocks them back. Three figures step from the smoldering rubble with the illimitable sound of a DJ scratch:

A booming, robotic voice comes from the sky. “REUNITED AGAIN! THE ORIGINAL DR. OCTAGON RETURN WITH A NEW ALBUM, MOOSEBUMPS: AN EXPLORATION INTO MODERN DAY HORRIPILATION!! OUT APRIL 6 ON THE AUTOMATOR’S BULK RECORDINGS!!! THE ANTICIPATED TRUE SEQUEL TO THE DR. OCTAGONECOLOGYST PROJECT!!!! PRE-ORDER-ABLE NOW!!!

The tall man’s mouth falls agape. “It… It can’t be!” he gasps, “Kool Keith… Dan the Automator… DJ Qbert… we haven’t seen the three of you together in 22 years!”

The man’s short companion scoffs. “Bah!” he snorts, “Rappers from the old days keep coming back to make political statements. Hasn’t helped us yet.”

Suddenly he’s slapped across the face by his taller friend. “Dumbass that you are!” the man yells, “this is Dr. Octagon! the team that reimagined the future of hip-hop! This ain’t no retro mish-mash!”

This remark draws the attention of one of the figures inside the ship, Dan The Automator. He steps forward. “Dr. Octagon is not a contemporary thing or a retro thing,” the Automator intones. “It has always looked to the future.”

And just like that — in a flash of red light — the three disappear, leaving the two men sitting stupefied and alone in the field of rubble. Presently, they come to understand: Dr. Octagon is truly mercurial, they can never stay in one place for long.

For now, though, the two men have the first track “Octagon Octagon” STREAMING RIGHT NOW to keep them company whilst our octagonal heroes are off to perform live at The Fillmore in San Francisco on February 18, then to The Belasco in Los Angeles on February 22. Who knows what they’re here to do after all these years, but one thing’s for certain: they’re back.
