Despite the recent presence of a backing band, let’s not act like anyone but principal songwriter Greta Kline has the final say when it comes to the details of any new Frankie Cosmos album. (Sure, Sub Pop may have some influence, given its status as FC’s newfound label sponsor, but if Kline herself declares a preference for poodles in bathtubs instead of corgis or Alaskan Malamutes, everyone basically has to acquiesce.) So let’s just assume that when Kline puts out the call to get non-traditional band members — a.k.a. the general public — a.k.a. YOU — involved in an album-creating process, similar amenability laws apply.

And this is all handy info to know, since something called “An Induced Album” has just been unveiled via the Frankie Cosmos website, offering Y-O-U the chance to share the credits, if not actual studio space!

Essentially, “An Induced Album” starts off as loose instructions, written by Kline, for six tracks; and then YOU are supposed to fill in the blanks where room is given for your own creative contributions. It’s just a fun thing not meant to be taken too seriously (I don’t think), but the hope on Kline’s part is to ultimately make a YouTube playlist off all the album variations that get composed by us un-famous plebs.

If you’re so inclined, check the details here. “There are no ultimate versions of these songs, only infinite versions.” Who knows? This could be your big break!

On a much less PERSONAL note, Frankie Cosmos have also extended their tour in support of Vessel through October 7. You can check out all the new dates below…but unfortunately, that’s the extent of their interactivity.
