All across this great land of ours, American citizens are tightening their supersized belts, clippin’ coupons, blah blah blah more euphemisms for living on an all-ramen-and-water diet in order to save money in these trying economic times. It’s not fun to buy dented cans of vegetables instead of the gleaming, organic delights at the co-op. Nor is it amusing to be all like, “Yeah, I guess sitting on your couch and watching this rerun of Cops I’ve seen five times already is just as entertaining as going to see the latest superhero movie at the drive-in movie theater. Yeah, let’s do that instead tonight. Pssh, I don’t even LIKE popcorn, we don’t gotta eat anything.” So it’s very kind of the good people in Wavves and Fucked Up to help us economize by touring together.
Cat-loving Wavves dude Nathan Williams has been a busy little surf bee this year, all releasing new EPs and a split 7-inch with Best Coast, plus collaborating onscreen with GZA and composing music for MTV. Fucked Up are no slouches either; they collaborated with Williams on Life Sux earlier this year, put out double-album David Comes to Life (TMT Review), and they’ve got a nice little series of late summer/fall European and Canadian festivals lined up. The intrepid band duo will hit the tough streets of Boston in late September, kicking off a few weeks’ worth of US dates before Fucked Up continues on alone into the wilds of Halifax, Nova Scotia for the final date of said tour.
