Hospital Ships get sweet promotion, celebrate by putting out Lonely Twin in June

Jordan Geiger: indie rock’s top intern! Here’s a dude who has been slaving under jerkwad bosses like Shearwater and The Appleseed Cast (just joshing ya, I’m sure they’re all lovely people), fetching them coffee and playing with them live and other menial tasks. Geiger takes it all fine, but it’s not where his heart is. His heart is with Hospital Ships, the solo project he’s been kicking around for the past few years. As it turns out, Geiger’s got a new Hospital Ships record coming out on June 7.

New record title? Lonely Twin! Label that’s putting it out? That’d be Graveface Records! Aaaaand what about the differences between the new record and Hospital Ships’s 2008 debut Oh, Ramona? Well, the album’s press release claims that while the first record was akin to “bedroom-pop,” this new one is more along the lines of a “three-room suite.” Sounds swell and all, but I don’t think “three-room-suite-pop” is really going to catch on as a term. Maybe try something like “fancy-hotel-pop”? Just a thought.
