Kelela announces massive run of world tour dates, just to keep me on my toes

Gee. Thanks for keeping me humble, Kelela.

After reporting the SHIT out of your HOTLY ANTICIPATED debut album Take Me Apart (which is still coming out October 6 via Warp and can still be pre-ordered here…unless they ran out of digital copies, I guess?) earlier this week, I was admittedly starting to feel a little too smug and self-satisfied.

I mean, especially after I artfully discussed and then deftly embedded the video for your album’s first single “LMK” at the bottom of the story…followed by a perfectly centered, hi-res image of the cover art and the album’s complete tracklisting?!? That shit was SO CLASSIC that I honestly thought i’d pretty much peaked as a news writer.

No, seriously. I’m telling you: after all that, I figured I had you all figured out as an artist. I figured there was “nothing left to say about Kelela.” I was about ready to just kick my feet up, eat spiraled ham with my bare hands, and polish the fuck out of my latest TMT Employee of The Month Plaque.

But then…not two days later, here you come again, alighting on my inbox like a classical Greek Muse, with the epic announcement of a huge, heart-pounding, international tour. And I do mean HUGE. Like, as in: this thing starts in October down in Mexico City and doesn’t conclude until freaking 2018…in Australia!

And just like that? BAM: here I am, kicking my La-Z-boy back into the “upright” position, brushing away the crumbs, and furiously typing away at my little white laptop like Captain Ahab whipping harpoons at Moby Dick! And I gotta tell you, Kelela; it feels GREAT to be back in the news-game again! I was BORN FOR THIS job; thanks SO MUCH again for reminding me. <3
