LCD Soundsystem ice cream truck stalking citizens of Chicago with its music, ice cream
THIS is happening. :(

Remember when you used to chase the ice cream man down the street, yelling and waving your money so that he would stop and sell you ice cream? Well, the tables have turned—now the ice cream truck is the hunter and you are its prey. More specifically, LCD Soundsystem is driving an ice cream truck around Chicago this weekend (Lollapalooza is currently happening there), giving out ice cream and blaring ice cream-truck versions of music from their new album.

Their album American Dream is set to come out on September 1, but if you thought you were going to make it that far without suffering through another obnoxious, postmodern advertising campaign, well…you were wrong!

The pre-orders for the album just went live today. Below, listen to their song “Call the Police” — the joke there is self-evident, but: if you see this truck you should “call the police.”

The truck has its own Twitter account and everything.

We’re not going to bother linking to it, though.

Have a good weekend or whatever. Who cares.
