Light in the Attic to release a compilation of legendary Atlanta soul musician Lee Moses's singles and rarities

Lee Moses’s sole LP Time and Place is about as deep as deep soul can go; a record so raw and grainy it outpunks any punk album I’ve ever heard. Originally flopping at the time of release, it has since attracted a cult following and a welcome interest from labels to reissue: most recently by the unparalleled Light in The Attic in 2016. Now, that very same label is about to release a compilation of Moses’s non-LP material, titled How Much Longer Must I Wait? Singles & Rarities 1965-1972 and out May 24.

Boasting late-1960s singles recorded with Atlanta producer Johnny Brantley (together with their B-sides), as well as three never-before-released tracks, the compilation paints a picture of a time when Moses was hustling hard to achieve the well-deserved fame and success he sadly wasn’t given in his lifetime.

All the songs on the release have been painstakingly remastered, and the compilation will come in a deluxe Kraft board jacket (on vinyl) or a tube pocket digipak (CD). Pre-order the album here and listen to Moses’s “Bad Girl” below, now considered a classic deep cut of Southern Soul:
