Max Cooper to explore new interpretations of time on World Passing By EP, because we definitely could use a few more of those
Maximum Cooper.

I frequently contemplate the nature of time, often while half-walking-half-sprinting into work fifteen minutes late or wondering how long ago I put my pizza in the oven (or especially those times when both of those things are happening at once). And at long last, Max Cooper has supplied the perfect soundtrack to ruminate over these thoughts to.

On his World Passing By EP, out November 24 on MESH Records (and pre-orderable here right now), Max Cooper explores the omnipresent and inescapable experience of time. The electronica and techno producer is no stranger to the art world of sound design, as his past releases have also delved into this “intersection of science, music, and art.”

“I wondered if our experience of time could be explained…where time is just a physical dimension into which things grow, with us experiencing now as the cusp of the inflation,” Cooper says of the EP’s temporal inspirations. He also ignored the method often employed by musicians of “let’s get high and see which sounds sound good together,” opting for a more conceptual approach.

Its central themes were born out of train journeys, and eventually translated into the slightly more musical language of music with the help of ambient chord progressions, distorted synths, and textural chords, among other sounds. Check out the results in the EP track “Stacked Moments” down below.

Finally, Cooper — who is often noted for his visual accompaniments — collaborated with artist Kevin McGloughlin to create the video representations of this EP, which will be seen in its live performances. And you’re contemplating catching Cooper live for the full-on experience, it might not be too late to grab tickets to one of the last dates of his MESH LIVE tour, available here.
