Mogwai finish new album, announce 2017 world tour, officially start taking creative credit for their band name
The still-young team.

Instead of “playing golf” or “making haggis” or whatever other stereotypical stuff, Scottish post-rock ensemble Mogwai have announced instead that they intend to “go on some huge world tour” later this year. Fine. (Come to think of it, they’re probably better at doing that anyway.)

Oh…and also, they want us all to know that they’ve officially finished recording a new album. No details about that just yet, but when it’s released, it’ll mark their ninth studio LP — and first since 2014’s Rave Tapes. And since their tour doesn’t start until basically October, the band still has plenty of time to toy with us and tease it.

Back to that tour, though: I have not seen Mogwai live, but I listen to their live albums Special Moves and Government Commissions a lot; so, based on that, I feel eminently qualified to endorse your going to see them at one the dates listed chronologically below.

But in case (for some annoying reason) my word isn’t “good enough” for you, here is a video of them playing the track “Mogwai Fear Satan” live. It looks like the people in the audience are really enjoying it. Ergo: maybe you’ll have a fun time, too!
