Mysterious electro-doom duo Belief Defect unveil apocalyptic debut album, premiere new track "No Future" (feeling optimistic yet?)
Cover art for the clandestine duo's forthcoming debut Decadent Yet Depraved.

In the internet age, “anonymity” can be frustrating. But aside from willfully obscuring artists’ personal identity (rendering them impervious to even the most savy of Google searches), that veil of mystery can also give them the freedom to go off track and do some wild things under a new set of expectations and freedoms. Case in point: Belief Defect, the new pseudonymous electro-doom project from “two established artists” (start the rumor mill, friends!) intent on secretly stewing us in the bleakest of bleak vibes.

Apocalyptic and purifying, the duo’s debut Decadent Yet Depraved manifests an image of humanity run amok, of total civil meltdown, of total post-industrial desolation. In other words, it’s the perfect record for 2017.

The album is due August 25 from the always dependably excellent Raster label. But lucky us: we don’t even have to wait those three weeks to surrender to the abyss and let the dance-floor noise annihilate our hopes and dreams, because we here at Tiny Mix Tapes are excited to premiere the album’s first single “No Future”! Log in to the darkspace and allow its agonized, caustic energy to reach your soul. Rad?

Rad.

Belief Defect will make their world premiere Friday, August 18 at Berlin Atonal. Listen to “No Future” here:
