The Octopus Project head out on West Coast tour, learn a thing or two opening for Devo

Austin, TX-based quintet The Octopus Project have been practically married to the road lately as they’ve traveled the country in support of their fourth album on Peek-A-Boo Records, Hexadecagon, and to make sure the marriage lasts, the band has announced a West Coast tour along with a handful of dates supporting Devo.

The band started their tour a few days ago, but lucky for you, the bulk of the dates can still be referred to in the future tense. The Project will be joined by surf-rockers Man or Astro-man on most of those dates, and then they will head back on the road in March to open for Devo. The Octopi got the gig as Devo’s opening act after Devo’s guitarist broke his hand at 2010’s Moogfest and The Octopus Project (who were also playing the show) were called in as a replacement backing-band. The two groups got along splendidly and one thing led to another, and now The Octopus Project are helping the devolutionists fill in the shows they had to reschedule because of the injury.
