Perfume Genius announces tour of sensible, moderate length with The xx

Huh. It’s only been a month or so?

Judging by the sheer volume of critical acclaim that No Shape has received in the past thirty-plus days, it’d be justifiable to assume that Mike Hadreas’s fourth studio album as Perfume Genius has been out for an eternity and represents some sort of qualitative apex — even though, to date, each new album he releases only seems to increase his fragile and majestic allure.

Meanwhile, as a live performer, as Perfume Genius slowly-but-surely becomes a household name and apprehensions regarding more “conservative” audience responses to an openly queer artist’s uniquely political utilization of the national spotlight, the flamboyance sometimes associated (and casually accepted) with Prince is now pretty much routinely eliciting the kinds of appropriately enthusiastic reactions you’d expect from an artist capable of topping a bill which also features a pretty pull-out-all-the-stops-live band like The xx, with whom Hadreas & co. will sharing a stage this fall.

Before all that madness goes down though, though, there are still a few June/July dates left on the summer tour that’s currently underway.
