Rhys Chatham releases new LP Rêve Parisien, a collab with Jacob Kassay

Guitarist, composer, trumpeter, post-minimalist, former downtown New York music figure, and avid gardener Rhys Chatham has a new LP, Rêve Parisien, available from the non-profit art publisher Primary Information. The record features four new tracks composed by Chatham for painter, installation artist, and high-price-driver Jacob Kassay’s exhibition Art: Concept in Paris in 2010.

According to Primary Information, Rêve Parisien contains compositions for solo trumpet that were performed live and loosely function as an audio catalogue to Kassay’s exhibition. These compositions take Chatham further into his minimal and less-distorted territory, as seen on his recent Outdoor Spell for Northern Spy Records. The LP is packaged in a gatefold with an arced die-cut cover, which was designed by Jacob Kassay in collaboration with Frank Napolski. Only 1,000 copies were pressed. Sample tracks are available for stream on Primary Information’s website.

Also be sure to catch Chatham at Neon Marshmallow Fest on October 16 in NYC.
