How YOU doin’? Ross From Friends — not to be confused with Ross from Friends — has an album coming out. Set for release on July 27 via Brainfeeder, Family Portrait will be his debut full-length.

For the British producer — real name Felix Clary Weatherhall — the process of making Family Portrait has been a long one. Its release culminates nearly two years of work on the album, with Weatherhall spending 20 hours a day in the studio, sometimes taking months just to perfect single aspects of individual songs. According to Weatherhall, “Every time I went to make music the things which would really grab me are the emotional things, and while I’m in that place I felt I could really focus on the track. That was a massive part of this album, tapping into my emotions…into my emotional instability.”

As if working extremely hard on his debut album weren’t enough, Weatherhall will be taking Ross From Friends on tour, playing dates from June through November. For the tour, Weatherhall has enlisted John Dunk on sax and keys, and Jed Hampson on guitar — a veritable Chandler and Joey — building out Ross From Friends’ sound into one that will work both at festivals and in clubs.

Pre-order Family Portrait here, and hear some of Weatherhall’s hard work for yourself by listening to “Project Cyberysn” down below. While down there, make sure to also check out the full tracklisting for Family Portrait, as well as all of the upcoming Ross From Friends tour dates, including the first-ever Ross From Friends shows in the US.

…Again, this is Ross From Friends, not Ross from Friends, so don’t expect any songs that explore the inner emotional anguish one suffers after their sandwich gets eaten.

Sorry!
