As hackneyed as half that headline might read, it IS a totally valid suggestion considering the artist is question. For many years now, Samara Lubelski has vigorously pursued left-field musical expeditions — playing with acts like Chelsea Light Moving, Hall of Fame, and Tower Recordings; engineering albums by Double Leopards, Ted Leo, and Magik Markers; and lending her considerable bass, violin, and vocal talents to too many recordings to mention. I believe the only other Lubelski-related release of 2018 is her already-sold-out Open Mouth LP with Bill Nace — but hey, it IS only March!

But while Samara Lubelski is an incomparable co-conspirator, news of a forthcoming solo album is something altogether different and dizzying. Flickers at the Station is out May 11 on Drawing Room Records. Recorded with long-time collaborators Metabolismus, this will be her first solo effort since 2016’s The Gilded Raid.
