Say no to landmines and yes to music chosen by Wavves, John Vanderslice, and TMT with new, secret email blog

Secrets. Tiger Woods had them. Women with really great hair in hair dye commercials are always telling you how they have them. Laura Palmer had them (as well as arms that sometimes bend back). Sometimes secrets can be dangerous. Sometimes they can be fun. And sometimes they can lead you to really awesome new music.

That’s the deal with The Plug Five Project, a new, secret (shh!!) email blog of recommendations by blog darlings like Wavves, John Vanderslice, Crystal Stilts, Woods, Om, King Creosote, Imaad Wasif, and A Hawk and a Hacksaw. These fine folks, along with acclaimed blogs Gorilla vs. Bear, Largehearted Boy, Culture Bully, You Ain’t No Picasso, Chromewaves, Muzzle of Bees, PIXELHORSE, Song by Toad, and The Culture of Me (plus Tiny Mix Tapes’ very own Mr P!!) will be contributing to the very first issue.

Issue 01 of Plug Five will magically appear in the inboxes of subscribers at 1 PM on the last Friday of every month — Blogs Not Bombs Day. Notice a theme? These people really love blogs. But you know what they can’t stand? Landmines. Which brings us to the raison d’etre of this project. The Plug Five Project is working with anti-landmine charity MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to “clear an area the size of San Francisco of landmines.” That’s impressive. So how does it help exactly? You make a contribution of $2 or £2, depending on your location, and then you’re all set to enjoy some sweet new music and help rid the world of landmines. The project also has plans to venture into the arena of film and literature and do a similar sort of project. In addition, if you subscribe you could also win a signed 1973 LP record of Charles Bukowski, live in San Francisco!

The first installment of seeeeecrets will hit your inbox on Friday, April 30 if you choose to subscribe. With all this exclusive content and secret routes to getting it, it’s like a rave for your inbox.
