A wizard of novel sounds, Cologne-based artist Schlammpeitziger is no stranger to the world of buoyant electronic music. Schlammpeitziger’s alter ego, Jo Zimmermann, has established repute over two decades as a miner of the bouncy tones and ambulatory vibes, all presented under colorfully inventive German verbiage. To say Zimmermann is an explorer of minimalist-yet-fun synthesizing would be an understatement; he’s been tilling that soil since at least 1994 getting dirty in it for fun ever since.
In keeping with his prodigious long game, Schlammpeitziger has just announced his newest album Damenbartblick auf Pregnant Hill through German label Bureau B. It marks Schlammpeitziger’s first since 2014’s What’s Fruit? and his eleventh album to date. To boot, the kindly Schlammpeitziger (say that five times fast) has shared a tidbit of what to expect with the premiere of a brand new video for album track “Damenbartblick.” And if the aforementioned is any indication, Schlammpeitziger is as absorptive as ever and hasn’t lost a step in the pursuit of curious, easy-going electronic.
