Baltimore MC Spank Rock (a.k.a. Naeem Juwan) has been dearly missed. The combination of twisty electro beats and mega-filthy rap isn’t an entirely fresh concept, yet Spank Rock made it sound fun and likable on his 2006 debut, YoYoYoYoYo. He’s been fairly silent since then, but it looks like 2011 may be Spank Rock’s comeback year. A few months back, he introduced his Italo disco side project Mobroder, and on September 27 he will be releasing his Boys Noize-produced sophomore record Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a Fucking Liar through Bad Blood Records.
With all this activity, all the man needs now is a huge summer tour to really get the hype flowing. That’s why I’m so delighted to report that Spank Rock has exactly that sort of tour planned! Surprisingly, the rapper’s legend has evidently grown so much that he’s able to headline huge arenas, quite the feat for an underground MC who’s been laying low for the past few years…
Hrmm? What’s that? He’s opening for Ke$ha and LMFAO on their summer tour?
