The Specials Announce Forthcoming "Eighth-Wave Ska Revival" Preceded by North American Performances and Live DVD

The Specials, who have emerged from a seemingly improbable time warp that pulled them straight from 1979 to 2010, have released information on North American performance dates that will be kicked off by an April 13 appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The television performance will be the first time that the band have been on American television since a 1980 performance on the late, great American sketch-comedy show Saturday Night Live. Wait… 1980? That doesn’t make sense with my time warp joke!

The Specials have also announced that they will be releasing a “very special” live Digital Video Disc (or DVD) on March 1. The DVD was filmed at a November 2009 performance at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in Shirefordshire, England. The video features performances of plenty of classic Specials tunes, as well a bevy of backstage, rehearsal, and interview footage. The DVD also features a “two-tone” version of the show presented in black and white.

Here are those tourdates:

04.15.10 - Los Angeles, CA - Club Nokia
04.16.10 - Indio, CA - Coachella
04.19.10 - Toronto, ON - Sound Academy
04.21.10 - New York, NY - Terminal 5
